FIBRE OPTIC NETWORKS

Point to Point

Point to point networks are no longer being built due to high construction costs and limit- ed benefits. Mobile telephone companies use existing networks. Internet providers have a business fibre network built.

Business Fiber Network

Basis of a Business Fibre Network is a largely area wide circular network. The investment costs per location are relatively high, but so is the income from customers such as data processing centres, banks and insurance companies.

Fibre Optics Environment:

Areas with two separate FTTX systems are not economical

Customers:

Appropiate standard of living and financial means of end users

Buildings/Object Density:

Densely built up area with at least 7 apartment units per building

 Legal Environment:

In most cities the laying of fibre optics in public spaces presents no problem,how- ever, an agreement with the city administration is required. A basic subject during construction is penetration with as many links to housing objects, based upon agreements with house owners.

Organisational:

In contrast to all other fiber projects, these are a mass product.

FIBRE TO THE CURB

FTTC is compareable to a point to point net- work, CJ and SC are fixed points.

FIBRE TO THE BUILDING & FIBRE TO THE HOME

FTTH is a tlecommunication network with fibre optics into each business or residential building The difference between FTTB and FTTH is the existence of a fibre optics connection into the house
